With the acquisition of Notion Motion (2005) a certificate was given to the Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen with a map of the installation made by the Werkstatt & Büro Olafur Eliasson.
During the installation of the work, some parts were executed slightly different than shown on this drawing.
In general, after inspection by the head of the technical department, it turned out this drawing did not provide enough information for a future re-installation. At the time Notion Motion was installed, there were sketches made as well by the technical staff of the Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen. Partly because these had not been reworked and documented yet, they turned out to be too cryptical for technicians and builders who had never worked on this installation before, and sometimes even for the ones who did.
Because of this, the Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen decided to give an external engineering agency the assignment to make new technical drawings of the work.
Since very little of this installation can be kept in the museum storage, having accurate drawings of this work is the best and maybe the only way to guarantee a proper re-installation in the future.
